Bluetooth Module
After emailing with SS and seeing his feedback, I have been considering how exactly I will implement the radio transmitter in the base computer as a means of wireles communication from the microchip.
The transmitter built into the chip has a serial rate of up to 40 kbps, which should be enough for transmitting MIDI, something I hadn't considered of until just now.
However, I am wondering why I don't just use Bluetooth. All of the error correction is taken care of and there are modules which communicate in TTL serial data that are easy to hook up to a microchip and USB adapters which I would just need to plug into my PC or iBook. Of course, these cost money - something like 80 bucks or so. But I haven't been browsing for this, so maybe I'll find a better deal if I look for a little longer.
This is definitely something to decide on soon.
